Occupational Therapy for Children and Teens

Executive Functioning

OT can help children and teens develop skills for planning, organizing, prioritizing, starting, and completing tasks. Strategies can support managing schoolwork, remembering responsibilities, and becoming more independent.

Gross Motor & Coordination

OT can help children develop balance, coordination, strength, motor planning, and body awareness. These skills can support participation in sports, playground activities, physical education, and everyday movement.

Routines & Transitions

OT can help children and teens establish routines, navigate transitions, and adapt to changes throughout their day. Strategies can make mornings, bedtime, getting ready, and moving between activities more predictable and manageable.

Attention & Focus

OT can support children and teens who have difficulty staying focused, managing distractions, or shifting their attention between activities. We’ll explore strategies that help improve attention and participation at home and at school.

Sensory Processing

OT can help children and teens better understand and manage their sensory needs. We’ll develop individualized strategies to support regulation and participation when sensory input feels overwhelming, distracting, or when additional sensory input is needed.

School Skills & Academic Participation

OT can support the skills needed to participate successfully in school. This may include organization, time management, task completion, written work, study strategies, managing school materials, and developing systems that make schoolwork more manageable.

Fine Motor & Handwriting

OT can support the fine motor skills needed for handwriting and everyday tasks. This may include pencil grasp, handwriting legibility and efficiency, cutting, manipulating school materials, and developing hand strength and coordination.

Emotional Regulation

OT can help children and teens recognize their emotions, understand their triggers, and develop strategies for managing frustration, stress, and feelings of overwhelm. The goal is to support regulation and participation in everyday activities.

Independence & Life Skills

OT can help children and teens build independence with everyday activities such as dressing, hygiene, meal preparation, household responsibilities, and managing personal belongings. Strategies are tailored to their age, abilities, and everyday needs.
